With the launch of the Cohort 4 accelerator program just a couple weeks ago, it was only a matter of time before we announced the details about our first Entrepreneur Studio of the 2015 Fall program. Entrepreneur Studio is an initiative that features a high-caliber, rock star entrepreneur in an “inside the actor’s studio” style interview elaborating on their journey as an entrepreneur. We are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming Rebecca Ufkes, Owner and President of UEC Electronics, to the stage for this highly anticipated event!
UEC Electronics, LLC is an engineering, design, prototyping, and manufacturing woman owned small business. Ufkes is a trailblazing business woman who has received an abundance of national awards and recognition for innovation and manufacturing, including the 2012 "Champion of Change" title in Washington, DC. In 2010, she was selected as the SBA South Carolina Small Business Person of the Year. UEC Electronics has made Inc. Magazine's 500/5000 fastest growing privately held companies for 3 consecutive years.
So, what exactly are these Studios all about, and why should you attend?
This is a unique opportunity for those in the room to hear what it was really like to build a company from idea to multi-million. We know that successful entrepreneurs don’t often ride in on a white horse and get presented the keys to building and sustaining a multi-million dollar business on a silver platter – Dispelling those myths and digging down to the nitty gritty are where our Studios come in. We tell our featured entrepreneurs that we want to hear about the times people thought their screws were loose for having an idea, and the turmoil they went through to make that idea reality. We want to hear the U-G-L-Y story that we so often do not get to hear. Most importantly, we want to know how they made it through the storm and the lessons learned along the way.
The first ever series of Entrepreneur Studio featured the impactful speakers Grier Allen, CEO of Boomtown!, Mason Holland, Co-Founder of Benefitfocus and Chairman of Eclipse Aerospace, and Steve Swanson, Founder of Automated Trading Desk who sold the company to Citigroup for $680 million. For the second Studio series we welcomed to the stage Anita Zucker, CEO of the Intertech Group and South Carolina's sole billionaire, and Steve Case, Founder of AOL (you know, the creator of that internet thing).
Entrepreneur Studio with Rebecca Ufkes will take place on September 22nd from 5 pm - 7 pm at Alhambra Hall located at 131 Middle St. in Mount Pleasant. Beverages and dessert will be provided. Tickets are just $5 each, and no, there is no catch; we live to create collision among our entrepreneur community. Grab your tickets here: https://bidr.co/events/ufkesstudio. Come join us on Sept 22 to get to know Rebecca Ufkes on a distinct, exclusive level!
